Fantastic game, quick but engaging, good replayability, already played a lot of games, will probably be my most played game of the year. I hope more comes!
For that price and level of complexity, the game is a good as it gets. Dead simple rules, short games less than 15 minutes. Yet the small symmetric decks are surprisingly versatile, and there's lot of viable strategies and wincons. It strikes a great balance for people that likes strategy but not complex rules, my SO struggles with more complex games but we are toe-to-toe on Cardia and we get to both enjoy a challenging duel. The game has two deck variants, the first and simplest one is a masterclass of design, the second one a bit more complex is still great. And on top of that, it has amazing art and is dirt cheap.
Game 1 - What’s going on, okay game I guess. Game 2 - Oh I see what’s happening… Game 3 - I’m going to try that this time. Game 12 - THIS IS AMAZINGGGGG
I've played so mamy games in the last few years and I must say that I'm extemely impressed with elegant and simple design of this game. Rules are straight forward but tactics matter a lot despite card draw luck. In a box you get two decks of cards to choose from or combine together plus several game modifiers called locations so replayabilty is enormous. This replaces "Air, land and sea" and for me has the potential to be my game of the year.
