Glastonbury is a magic board game for 2-4 players with about 30 minutes playtime. Collect ingredients for potions and use special spell cards. Published by Franjos Spieleverlag, ages 8+.
The game game is in consignmentStock but only few copies are available
- 106 cards (70.0mmx70.0mm)
In Glastonbury, the players are witches and wizards who shop for ingredients for their magic potions. Your token moves around the perimeter of an array of ingredient cards, and you pick one from the row or column where you stop. The number on the card you pick dictates how many spaces you move on your next turn.
To score points, you need to collect sets of four matching ingredients; if you have only one of a particular ingredient, you'll score penalty points instead. The scoring rules can be made more complicated if the players desire, but for most the basic rules are satisfying. A touch of memory is involved since you can see only the most recently chosen ingredient on your stack of cards.
Glastonbury is a new edition of the 2002 release Kupferkessel Co. with the game now allowing for up to four players instead of being strictly a two-player game. The game includes additional ingredient cards and new spell cards that allow special actions.

What I'm most surprised by is how much non gamers enjoy this game. It's a good combination of a memory game and set collection game, with enough board movement and player interaction. The player interaction is what I'd refer to as "Black Friday" player interaction where it's more about getting in everyone's way instead of directly attacking someone. It's one of the few games that not only plays 2-4 very well, but it feels the same when playing 2 or 4, but if you can only get the 2 player version, it's an amazing 2 player game.
Played Amalgam edition by SimplyFun. Fun to play as two player or with family. Requires planning-ahead and force you to think about your moves. Easy rules to reach. ARtwork is great.
Decent memory, movement management set collection. There are a lot of suits, so that kind of throws people off from remembering what they have in their cauldron. The option of trashing a card instead of taking it is nice.
It has memory, what's not to like :-)) Excellent, very easy to explain filler game.
