Kakerlaken-Poker is a simple bluffing game for 2-6 players where you trick opponents with critter cards: cockroaches, spiders, toads, flies, bugs, scorpions, rats. Games last about 20 minutes. The first player to collect 4 cards of the same creature loses! A fun game suitable from age 8 and up.

Despite the name, Kakerlakenpoker has nothing to do with poker – except that the game is all about bluffing, but with cards showing cockroaches, rats and stink bugs instead of queens, 10s and aces.

The deck includes 64 cards, with eight copies of eight types of critters. To set up the game, shuffle the deck and deal the cards out to players. On a turn, a player takes one card from his hand, lays it face down on the table, slides it to a player of his choice, and declares a type of critter, e.g., "Stink bug". The player receiving the card either

• Accepts the card, says either "true" or "false", then reveals the card. If this player is wrong in her claim, she keeps the card on the table in front of her face up; if she is right, the player who gave her the card places it face up before him.

• Peeks at the card, then passes it face down to another player, either saying the original type of critter or saying a new type. This new player again has the choice of accepting the card or passing it, unless the card has already been seen by all other players in which case the player must take the first option.

The game ends when a player has no cards to pass on his turn or when a player has four cards of the same critter on the table in front of him. In either case, this player loses and everyone else wins.

Juego corto pero contundente, se basa en predecir si los demás están mintiendo o no e intentar engañar, generan muchas risas los juegos mentales, no puedo entender las rachas de mala suerte que surgen. Simple, con lugar a estrategias, suerte o puro leseo, es genial.

The game is so simple but so fun to play. I've never brought this to a party and not had players ready to jump across the table by the end. It's amazing how much emotional investment you can get out of one simple mechanic: bluffing.

I like that the game veers much closer to group dynamics, instead of individual choices. And then much like Durak, it becomes everyone against one. The victim's gotta learn some countermeasures to defend (and hopefully destroy someone else instead).

I recently introduced this to my poker friends. We had the best laugh out loud moments when we always try to get each other again or catch each other bluffing. Those memories will last forever. As a poker player, this scratches that itch when you make clever mind-game plays or reads on your opponents. It's always guaranteed laughter and fast-fun with so many gotcha moments. One of my favorite filler games to introduce people to.
