Scythe is a ridiculous amount of fun, combining worker placement, territory control, and engine building. The game really rewards strategic planning with a focus on each faction's strengths and objectives.

Scythe is a board game set in an alternate-history 1920s. It is a time of farming and war, broken hearts and rusted gears, innovation and valor. Think of it as Agricola meets Kemet with asymmetric factions.
In Scythe, players work as individuals to lead their country to victory by conquering territory, recruiting new villagers and troops (each with a unique name, story, and skillset), reaping resources (which stay on the map, thus drawing opponents’ attention to certain areas if players stockpile resources), and building monstrous mechs. Scythe uses a basic card-driven mechanism to keep the game moving at a brisk pace.
Scythe has no player elimination, and each country will have custom miniatures and custom dice. Each country is completely asymmetric.

Beautiful artwork. Very good components; custom mechs, meeples and more. Game is very fun and comes with an achievement system you can write your name on if you win with x faction, x points etc.
Used to play with coworkers over one or two lunches, now it comes out pretty rarely but I am always up to play and have resorted to turning to the virtual version vs A.I. numerous times. I enjoy the variety of play styles you can commit to, the scheming, and the climactic moments that make or break your plans. There are few things as satisfying in games as having two mechs and a hero initiate combat to claim victory over an enemy, or lake teleporting to misdirect people from your intentions. One of my favorite games in my collection.
Art, Theme/World, Mechanics…It’s a win for me across the board. It’s a little like chess, catan, and risk had a steampunk baby. I find my mind wandering off in the theme and world of Scythe. The strategy and gameplay offer plenty of challenge without feeling overwhelming.
One of my all time favorite games. Hundreds of plays. So much variability, and the end games are always still exciting. The expansions are all fantastic, and the modular board adds endless combos for even more replayability. Rise of Fenris is maybe the best expansion I’ve ever seen for any game, ever.
