Invited too many people to play, so ended up giving my place to become Game Master ("Lord Secretary of the Council", with own House name and coat of arms). It was some of the most fun I've ever had boardgaming, and I wasn't even actually playing this time. It's THAT good. You need the right goofy, role-playing inclined group, though. The players themselves will make the game shine.

The King's Dilemma
The King's Dilemma is a unique, narrative and interactive experience with a sort of deck-building mechanism at its core that features several branching storylines leading to many possible finales. In the game, players represent the various factions that lead the government of the kingdom: merchants, scholars, priests, etc. Players draw cards from the common deck and experience the game story unfold. Each card they draw poses a problem the council has to solve on the king's behalf. As members of the King's inner circle, the players' decisions shape the story of the game and determine the fate of the kingdom. They have to discuss, bargain, and take decisions that will affect the history of the realm by causing cards to be removed from the deck permanently or adding new cards to it. Players have to keep the kingdom going while also trying to advantage their own faction. This power struggle may lead the kingdom into war, famine, or riot — or it could generate wealth and well-being. It will depend on your choices! The thing is, each decision has consequences, and what is good for the kingdom as a whole may be bad for your faction. Will you act for the greater good, or think for yourself?

Fantastic and very underrated game. My group had the best of times playing the campaign from start to finish. The story is great, and you'll have plenty of good memories from this gem. I really wish they'd make a second version or a new story so that we could do it again.
Al picked up a copy of this game and invited some of us to play. You really get to see your friends' true colors and the messy complexity of the human spirit. Now I long to drive a Prius with a "born to burn oil" bumper sticker, such is the dichotomy of man. Great game, way better than Dominion.
Our group can't wait to play the next session, every time we have so much fun roleplaying the head of a house and blaming each other for the countries issues (correctly so btw) and watching the consequences of our actions play out in front of us. If your groups likes roleplaying, and it's a tight group were arguing is no issue, then this is the game for your people, and they'll love you for it. You'll never forget that one time the merchant house helped the scholar house get ahead of everyone and the inquisition was the least of your people's problems
Pretty good game, even tho absolutely not my type of game, on first glance at least. Still, I want to play it with my group in real-life(Currently playing in Tabletop simulator), and even tho I really dislike legacy aspect of ruining physical components, you can easily avoid it, by using pen and paper!
