Description Description
Quartermaster General is a fast-paced game that puts you in command of the major powers of the Second World War. In the game, supply is crucial to keep your armies and navies fighting; destroy your enemies' supply lines and their forces will surrender! During play, you control one or more countries on either the Axis or Allied team and try to score as many victory points (VPs) for your team as you can through the use of cards or by occupying the starred supply spaces. Each major power has a unique set of cards with which to marshal its forces, which are represented by wooden army and navy pieces. After twenty rounds of play, the team with the most VPs wins. Quartermaster General WW2, released in 2019, is a second edition of the game revised to improve its ease of play, clarity, and play balance. Note: The French edition of Quartermaster General, known as Quartermaster, includes the Quartermaster General: Air Marshal expansion that is sold separately in the English edition.

I would have played this game sooner but for the title. The game pretty much satisfies the desire for the rules to be on the cards. It can be as tense as it is fast and it is very easy for anyone to play. Very high repeat play value, and a far lower feeling of repetitiveness than one might expect. 216 cards & 20 turns or less gives an idea of just how many ways it can play out. Probably works well with any number of players up to 6, especially if one or two haven't played before. And the really interesting thing is that GMT have three similar games as yet unpublished which will be immediately compared to this. *** 9 up to 10 because of the six-player game.

This game's somewhat lower rating and placement on the wargame rankings list are a travesty. Things see some improvement with the significantly high rating of the second edition version -- though in the BGG system, apparently, that does not help it move up the rankings list. This game is a classic expression of the most global war ever! It is a genius combination of strategic depth in a very playable system. Superb!!!

It isn't for everyone, and it isn't perfect. Even so, it's a 10/10. A low complexity, high strategy team game that never ever plays the same way twice. Smash hit at conventions, and is also excellent with 2 players. It can be tough to get to the table at full player count as it's 6 player, and the theme turns some people off. Can be brutal and frustrating but tons of interesting decisions. Be ready to suck up bad luck or absence of required cards. Very clever and quick. Short rules, but there is depth here. Good narrative but possibly a few too many too and fro situations (?). Make sure the decks are well shuffled!!! Title not the best, but it will do. SECOND PLAY: yes, very good indeed. Britain took a naval loss early on and struggled. Italy fell to resistane and Tito in the Balkans. Interestingly everything balanced out nicely. Really quite chaotic. Love it. Third play: 10.

Simply wonderful 6 player game of World War 2. Speaking as a Grognard, I will never play Third Reich again. Unusually, this game is even better with both expansions which add interest and depth without much in the way of additional complexity. A good gateway game, but still a fine contest for gamers, and at long last a strategic WW2 wargame that does not railroad you heavily along historical lines. For every 'weird' thing I've seen happen in this game there is a degree of plausibility if you know your history. Sure, historical strategies can work here, but there are genuine options. Bravo!
